1. New Trend Alert: “The Scale Back” – What it means for you. (Sarah Mae)
I have noticed a new trend among life/business coaches lately. Many that have grown their business to a large team and high revenue are all of a sudden scaling back. This trend provides some valuable insights for new coaches entering the industry.
Three possible reasons for this trend include burnout, reevaluating priorities, and strategic changes.
1) Burnout: Building and managing a large team and high-revenue business can be stressful and exhausting. Scaling back and taking a sabbatical can help them recharge and prevent burnout.
➡️ What does this mean for you? Be aware of the potential for burnout and take steps to prevent it early on. This may include setting boundaries, delegating tasks, and taking breaks when needed. Don’t sacrifice your own well-being for the sake of your business as you will regret it later.
2) Re-evaluating priorities: As coaches become more successful and their businesses grow, they may find that their priorities shift. Scaling back and taking a sabbatical can provide an opportunity to reassess priorities and make changes that align with personal values and goals.
➡️ What does this mean for you? Remember that success and money are not the only measures of a fulfilling life. Consider what you truly value and make time for those things, even as you build your business. Where do you want to be in 5-10 years? Build THAT business.
3) Strategic changes: Sometimes, coaches may scale back their businesses as part of a strategic plan to pivot in a new direction. They may be letting go of employees or taking time off to restructure their business, develop new products or services, or pursue new opportunities.
➡️ What does this mean for you? Be willing to adapt and pivot as needed. Your business may evolve over time, and it’s important to be open to new opportunities and willing to make changes when necessary.
Remember, success is not just about growth and revenue, it’s also about finding fulfillment and purpose in what you do. Don’t make the same mistakes as coaches before you, build a business that not only achieves financial success but also aligns with your personal values and goals. Build it into your foundation.
2. More Conversations = More Clients (Steph)
As a coach, you know that your business success depends on finding clients. However, clients won’t just come to you automatically. Even the most successful coaches have to put themselves out there and actively seek new clients. One way to do this is by starting conversations about coaching on a regular basis.
Here are some Action Steps to get these conversations started:
a) Talk about coaching with everyone you meet: Whether you’re at a networking event or chatting with a neighbour, make sure to mention that you’re a coach. Tell people what you do and how you help your clients. You never know who might be interested in your services.
b) Create content that showcases your expertise: Whether it’s through blog posts, social media updates, or videos, create content that demonstrates your coaching expertise. Then start conversations with anyone that interacts with your content.
c) Actively Engage with others on social media: Whatever platform you use, make a list of the people you want to connect with. Next, consume their content to see what interests them and their community, then thoughtfully engage with it. Reply to their posts, respond to comments for them when you can add value, or share their content. Once they respond to you, connect with them to continue the conversation. Note: try to choose people with a similar audience size as you, they’re more likely to engage with you).
As a coach, building relationships with potential clients is crucial to the success of your business. By consistently putting yourself out there, having powerful conversations, and focusing on building strong relationships, you can attract new clients and build a thriving coaching business that helps transform the lives of your clients.
3. Playing the Long Game with good SEO (Sarah Mae)
Becoming an authority in your area of expertise is a great way to establish credibility and position your personal brand. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts to instant success, building authority requires a long-term approach.
There are, however, some things you can do to ensure your success. One of these is creating a blog with a good SEO strategy. The #1 reason to create a blog is that YOU own the space and content, which makes it evergreen (unlike Instagram and Facebook etc.) But how do you ensure people find you?
With well-researched keywords…
Creating high-quality content is essential for a successful blog, but it’s not enough to just write great articles. To attract more readers and improve your search engine rankings, you need to optimize your content for keywords that people are searching for. I like to use Ubersuggest for this.
Here’s how:
1. Start by entering your target keyword or phrase into the search bar on Ubersuggest’s homepage.
2. It will provide you with a list of related keywords and phrases, along with data on their search volume, competition level, and potential SEO difficulty.
3. Use this data to identify keywords that have high search volume and low competition, as these are the most promising for improving your search engine rankings.
4. Create content using these keywords – ONE per blog post. Include the keyword approx. 1-2 times for every 100 words of copy.
Having a keyword strategy is an important place to start when you’re starting or looking to grow your blog. Remember, it is a long game. You might not start to notice traffic for 12-18 months. Stay consistent and it will pay off!
It’s a marathon, not a race.
