How to Create the Life That You Want in 1 Year

  1. Start with a life audit

It’s imperative to see exactly where you are currently so you know where to make adjustments and where to start first. Start by figuring out where you stand in the 8 key areas of life

  • Health
  • Finances
  • Personal development
  • Career
  • Relationships
  • Self-care
  • Homelife
  • Free time

Answer this: What changes would make the biggest impact in your life for each area?

  1. Make a mindset shift

Your mindset is what sets the tone for everything you do in life. Changing your mindset is what will change your life. What you think and believe guides what you do.

Try this: From now on anytime anything negative happens, instead of feeling like a victim, ask yourself what you can control or change.

  1. Create a vision

Having a vision means you have a clear sense of purpose. It means you have a much larger picture of your business or your life and where you are headed than simply setting goals and tackling problems as they come along. Visions are driven by passion and dreams. They are reflected through real efforts to create real results.

Try this: Create a vision board on Pinterest filled with images that reflect the life or business you dream about. Or go old school and grab a few magazines and clip out images that reflect your passions and what drives you. 

  1. Work on yourself daily

Once you have your vision laid out, it’s much easier to see which direction you should take to get there. But nobody is going to do the work for you. You have to put in the work to achieve your goals and change your own life. Consistent, daily practice is how you make that happen.

Try this: Create a plan of action. Start with the smallest steps and habits. Doing even just a little every day brings big results.

  1. Design your environment for success

If you want to change your life, your environment will need to change too. If you’re always hanging out with negative thinking people, you’ll tend to believe the limitations they’re setting for you. However, if you hang out with other doers and people who want you to succeed, there’s a much higher chance that you will.

Try this: Take note of the people you feel lifted up by when you are around them. Make plans to be around them more than those who bring you down.

  1. Learn new skills and improve upon your existing ones

Nothing will change your life faster than building new skills. The biggest hurdle here is just to start – even if you’re not good yet. Dedicate time during your day to build your skills. Learn from books, videos, podcasts, and practice every day. 

Try this: Take an item from your plan of action and commit to learning something new. Don’t forget to celebrate the small and big accomplishments along the way.

  1. Lastly, enjoy the process

The whole point of this is to change. That means your thoughts, behaviors, in addition to your surroundings, will change throughout the year. You may realize that you no longer want the same thing. That’s okay!

Don’t get so focused on the process that you lose sight of what you want and most importantly, having fun!
